Hi, I actually lost my husband ten years ago, it was the anniversary of his death on 17th December. Maybe that anniversary is what made me join here as I like to think I’m ’over it’ and live a happy and fulfilled life. Our son had just had his eighth birthday when his dad died and is (fingers crossed) off to university next autumn, so I’ll live alone for the first time. Grief fades and the person left to navigate the future has to find their new path. A friend recently described me as ‘self contained’, is that good? I cope well alone but just long to have someone special again.

Best wishes to all in the new year.
